A Game of Thrones...
« on: October 16, 2007, 07:35:03 pm »
From everyone's favorite player of obscure games, heh. I am posting this in hopes of unearthing some sort of secretive society of AGoT players in Vancouver, since from what I'm hearing the only active group out there is rooted in Victoria. Plus if others decide to play that's fantastic too, heh.

If you've read the book series Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin, you might be interested, heh. This is a faction based CCG like L5R, featuring 6 of the major houses in the book series and some other lesser factions which are just cool theme decks, such as the Nightswatch and the Brotherhood without Banners. Cards tend to be plot-tastic and the references are obviously no good if you haven't read the books.

http://z3.invisionfree.com/GTA_TGA/index.php?showtopic=228, this thread briefly illustrates houses in terms of playstyle, though it is somewhat outdated and new tricksies are abound with the current base set.

Guess which house I specialize in! Hint: I am a bitter bitter person.

hehe I remember reading about this CCG.  Stark all the way man.  winter is coming
"Hiding the fact you're dead again
Underneath the power lines seeking shade
Far above our heads are the icy heights that contain all reason
It's a luscious mix of words and tricks
That let us bet when you know we should've folded "~ The Shins

I tried to read through A Game of Thrones but just couldn't do it. Too much politics and intrigue for me, and I just can't enjoy reading when I want to beat one of the characters' head in with a moderately spiked club. I contemplated the CCG, if only to add to my informal collection.

Ahh how we differ, while I want to bludgeon several characters to death, but I'm all about the politics and intrigue, heh. Well it is our opinion that the game will collapse with the direction they're going now but at least it'll be cheap to collect now.

Hey I have the Game of Thrones starter. I'd like to play sometime... although the decks seem terrible.
