Which style of game do you prefer and why?
« on: November 01, 2013, 12:54:21 pm »
In BASH, you explicitly are told by the game master how many hero points you need to spend, after rolling the dice, in order to reach a certain target number. This is explicitly to reduce player frustration.

On the other hand, in 7th Sea, you usually do not know the target number before you decide to roll "drama dice" or not to add to your already rolled dice, presumably to add an air of "gambling" to it all. This could lead to the frustration of still not making it (and I guess the danger of "overpaying" when you spend more drama dice then you had to to make the target number).

Which style of game play do you prefer?

Personally, I lean towards the BASH style.  I find it frustrating to roll, fail, pay to gamble from a limited resource, and then fail anyhow, and I also find it annoying to "overpay".
Game MASter that is comPLETEly unfair!
