Hey yall, I'm Tom.  I'll be here for a few years writing a master's thesis but that doesn't mean I can't have fun after hours.

Generally play any kind of board game, quite a few RPGs, Magic, Warhammer 40k, dabbled in Fantasy, interested in starting WarMachine, etc. etc.  Also, Killing Floor and CS:S for all those who love shooters.

On a side note, I've been told that due to past game club experience (treasurer, organizer, etc) and a decent repertoire of games known I ought to go for a VP position... seeing as no one else is bothering to.  I'll be the guy to promote new games, hold painting workshops for those of you with minis 'n things, run campaigns, and (most importantly) bring a sane and responsible drinking policy back to the Wargamers (because God knows, I loves me a Guinness)!  So vote for the Tall Guy or don't, if there happens to be no contest.

heh well that does sound cool but i've always thought that grad students weren't under the AMS.  If you aren't an AMS member, I don't think you can be an exec of an AMS club.  don't quote me on that though heh.

Dude, but go pitch a fit and maybe they'll give it back and you can teh wasted. Or your an AMS monkey like the rest of us and the club can get you drunk...I miss being an exec :p

GSS is separate thing, so we get a voice there for governmental things.  I believe there is a council of grad students which reports a vote to a member on the AMS council... so we get a twice diluted voice essentially (at least that's how I think it works).  Its just ANOTHER entity I pay x beers a year for the privilege of ignoring.

I'm actually quite disillusioned with it all right now.  10-12 years of additional schooling/working-for-pennies just to get to the point where I get to fill out paperwork and critique results for other people completing an additional 10-12 years of education just doesn't float my boat.  2 year Masters it is.

But every now and then you get to critique them so horrendously they could be devastated forever. Totally worth it, heh.
