World of Warcraft is a great runner up. its like magic "lite" as we say around the card shop that I work at. it works a lot like magic, with some interesting variant rules, and can be a little less expensive to be competitive in (There are epic cards which can value 40-50 dollars though!). but with only two sets to have to purchase from to get the best cards, its a bit cheaper.
Yu-Gi-Oh is of course amusing. If you like the show, that helps. If you like playing with a younger friend or are in your teens yourself, its easy to find folks who like to play this game. But this game is also expensive to get the 'best' cards for.
There are other games, Pokemon, Pirates, Universal Fighting System, Vs System, and more. These games are fun if you have someone to play with, but its hard to find a game. If you have a friend who you can hand a deck to and teach them a game, these are good options.
