Title: Much Ado About Friday! (ITT we Japan now)
Post by: webservice@growbiggerpenis.com on December 23, 2011, 03:27:01 pm
Well, hello everyone! I hope you're having a  fantastic Festivus. I know I am, seeing as my liquor supplies are quickly dwindling down to nothing as I come to terms with my Arts degree. Anyways, I'm here to talk to you about what we should do about Friday.

Now that Hot War is over (for the time being), there are now three people vying the now vacant but ever popular Friday evening slot.

The contenders are:

Alex, who will be running 3:16 - Carnage Among The Stars , a rules light mix between Starship Troopers and Warhammer 40k. Just google it.

John H with Scion , where you (and a few friends) will roleplay as the manchildren of the Gods in a modern-day setting. I think John might be going with a Norse theme with this campaign, but you'll have to ask him to find out more.

Finally, we have the worst GM in Wargamers (yours truly). I'll be trying my hand at running Deadlands: Reloaded, which seems to be a very nice mix of action, comedy and horror all with a Western aesthetic.

In conclusion, feel free to post post post about which campaign setting you'd like to join for the next upcoming term. We're using democracy here folks, so whoever draws the most interest will probably get the spot. Yup. Post post post.

i'm voting for what ever gives me the best chance at watching comedy central.

I'm lazy and am quite willing to vote against myself since I would rather play than run.  :)  That said, if the votes go for 3:16, I am willing to run it.

I am slightly biased towards the system of Deadlands:Reloaded over Scion, but am happy with either setting.  And hey, a Norse theme could be cool.  I like it when the party is united by a theme.

News: I will not be interfering with the Ffriday evening games, as I am suddenly unavailable Friday evenings.  So I revoke my vote, and also will be able to run 3:16 on Friday afternoons (say noon to 5 pm?) if anyone is interested.

Btw, wrt Friday evenings (which I can't play in so don't take me too seriously here) if people can't decide between Savage Worlds and Norse myth, there is always Hellfrost.  :)

While I'm good for both options, I think that Deadlands: Reloaded would fit our group the best.

I would say let John run Scion.  Jamie's grasp of the wild west is still. *magic 8 ball says hazy*.   However if jamie does deadlands comedy central will ensue..

My personal enjoyment. or watching you guys play scion.,

Another option is the 2 GMs alternating weeks, if they have the same group of players.

Out of curiosity if I tried to run the Dresden Files either on Friday, or on another day would anyone be interested in it. It's a modern day real world setting with magic overlayed and uses the fate system

For what it is worth, I will show up around noon on Friday with Carnage Amongst the Stars and leave around 5, so the good news is I will not be in conflict with the evening game, whatever it turns out to be.

Edit: If no one shows an interest, I will likely leave earlier than 5.

2nd Edit:  3:16 Campaign cancelled due to lack of interest.  The game of Everyone is John was fun today.

I won't be able to make it to this week's session. Also, Jamie, why are those men not being punched in the sternum, having their torsos gorily smashed open? Tsk tsk, sloppy GM settles for second-rate depictions.

At the end of last session, the train tunnel that the party was travelling through collapsed due to a magical, ghost-rock infused stick of dynamite. The Big Bad Evil Guy, Iris and Augustine were instantly vapourized, Teddy Roosevelt was crushed under a massive tide of falling rocks and the rest of the team barely escaped with their lives.

Only hours earlier, around 75 people enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and champagne. Now, I think the number of currently living passengers still on the train... has fallen into the single digits.

In conclusion, honk honk.

Um, well, interesting things happened tonight in Lady Blackbird... It began with a seemingly simple task: pick up Lady Blackbird from Ilysium, fly to Haven, get navigation codes for the Remnants from a contact in Haven, then fly to the Remnants and deliver Lady Blackbird to Uriah Flint. It ended with emotional abuse of jail guards, massacring imperial soldiers, crash-landing in a duck pond, being arrested by the Haven militia, and putting the Empire and the Free Worlds on the brink of war. Good job everyone :D

I hope you all enjoyed Lady Blackbird; if you guys would like to continue with it, I'd be happy to run it again.

Violence which leads to more subtle social situations which lead to more violence. The cycle continues until the party winds up orchestrating their own deaths. The GM cackles. Champagne for everyone.

The game started off more like Wild Wild West until the horror struck.

All was going well in this experimental campaign (example: two GMs) until the players came through with amazing incompetence and half-assed logic to destroy the perfect world.

After some help with a physics calculator and ignoring air resistance -

After determining that with Dr. Xeno aboard, the flying Soviet Captain was moving at a grand total of 3.429 m/s (assuming he moved at 20.574m/22.5~ yards every six seconds) before Jules Drake annihilated him with a lucky shot.

v = 3.429 m/s
degree of launch = 60
horizontal range = 1.03905 m
t = 0.6060 s
vertical height = 0.44992 m

It only took Dr. Xeno 0.606 seconds, with a total movement of 1.03905 horizontal meters (0.44992 m vertically), to return to his initial vertical height (72.5 feet, 22.098m I did some trignometry. Turns out he's actually at a initial height of 18.8976m [assuming he picked Xeno up at 5 feet above the ground]).  At the height of his arc, Dr. Xeno moved 0.519525 meters horizontally in 0.303 seconds all things assumed equal.

However, to take the calculations for a horizontal launch, we must note:

Dr Xeno's maximum vertical height: 19.3475m.
Dr Xeno's horizontal launch velocity: 1.7145m/s (MORE TRIG)
Acceleration by gravity: 9.8m/s2

So, with all of this in mind, Dr. Xeno moved a total of 4.4459m horizontally (after a 19.3475m drop) in the space of 2.29 seconds. His vertical velocity, before impact with the ground, was roughly 19.4733 meters a second... which is around 70.104~ km/h.

Conclusions:

1) I doubt Dr. Xeno could have survived all of that assuming his elderly condition. Basically, if you crash (and come to a complete stop very suddenly) while moving at 75 km/h, it would be like falling out of a seven-storey building.

2) Math is hard and I probably fucked up. I accept this considering I gave no fucks about when and where I rounded up numbers.

3) Jetpacks are really slow! The average jetpack moves 35 yards in 6 six seconds, which is roughly 5.334 m/s (19.202 km/h). I was cheating with a SUPER SOVIET JETPACK that moved 45 yards every six seconds, speed halved by the weight of Dr. Xeno - around 12.3444 km/h.

4) Iris was 12 yards (10.9728m) away from the jetpack (horizontally) when the Captain was killed. Considering it took 2.29 seconds for him to fall, Iris would have been able to move 4.188~ meters before Dr. Xeno returned to planet Earth. If she was lucky enough to roll a 6 on her d6 for running, she would have been able to move 8.376 meters before the inevitable happened (which would still all be for naught, considering Dr. Xeno's flying, screaming body would still be moving horizontally).

lol.

You guys might want to try Paranoia (all about betraying each other - with humour in a dystopia), Dogs in the Vineyard (all about how far you will "push it" to put forward your moral agenda) or The Mountain Witch (again, about betrayal, but more honour and samurai based and tragic rather than comic).

Or else try a total change of pace, like In a Wicked Age (to go more narrative) or 1st edition AD&D (I know that the club has the books for it, and it is about looting monster's lairs while killing or avoiding or tricking the monsters out of said loot).

Or else be put in a game where lack of pro-active mutual cooperation = TPK.  So, like, with Aampi as DM or something.

Failing that, you could have a few non-cooperative board game nights where you guys go for each others' throats, just to get it out of your systems, so that you can return to cooperating as a group in future weeks.

Or maybe institute a "no metagaming" rule, such that if someone describes an action that could only be justified via metagaming, then the action doesn't happen and that player loses their turn.

For the time being the players liked Scion enough to have another go at it but I asked them to make their characters cooperatively, that way when the same sort of shit happens, I can point the finger directly at the players instead of their characters not making sense together.

TRololololololol~

Also. Silly Alex, trying to promote your First Ed antics. But in all seriousness do you have physical copies of In a Wicked Age or the Mountain Witch?

In a Wicked Age yes, Mountain Witch no.

Fun fact, In a Wicked Age and Jaws of the Six Serpents go together like cookies and milk, IMHO.

Maybe you guys should try Solars in Exalted and just have it out with each other?  The rules are not too different from Scion, right?

Well Alex, a couple of the scion players have a distaste for Exalted so they would probably rather not do that. Plus Plue is already in the Exalted campaign so at least he can get a taste for it. I am curious as to why you think Exalted would be a better fit.

See, the basic gist of it all is that in the past, Iris hired the rest of us to help her with something, and we've continued working together since then for over a year.  Basically, "you've met & worked together in the past, you're friends, begin campaign".  I mean, the whole thing started with us attending Iris's recital for no other reason than we're supposed to be pals.

However, apparently, everyone else has a much looser definition of "friendship" than I.  There's always that bud who constantly does foolish things that make a mess of things, but you grit your teeth & clean up.  If you don't like it, hold them on a leash, don't abandon them!

Perhaps my next character should be a sensitive individual who constantly uses puppy-dog eyes to get the party to stay nice to each other.  If I must use social knacks on the other pc's, so be it.

One of the issues in Scion (from reports, not paricipation, obviously) seemed to be "the US army doesn't like that shit and shoots/captures you guys" so the players had to deal with the world as well as each other.

Solars in Exalted are so powerful that they are relatively "safe" from the world, and have to deal with a) each other, and b) the consequences of their actions when they try to be helpful to the world.  Maybe that would lead to more of a "lets have it out, then be unified" kind of feel.  Maybe not.

Another option is to go narrativist and try Fiasco, where the game is more about describing the story and less about "winning" since the Fiasco characters are almost by definition losers at life.  Working for or against each other works equally well in that game.
Title: Re: Much Ado About Friday! (ITT we are scions)
Post by: Espie on May 23, 2012, 11:41:48 pm
I considered Fiasco for fun, but in my opinion it requires really quick thinking to maintain the frantic pace. Like, I'd give every player a 5-10 second window to respond to various things happening. This would probably put undue pressure on the players who would not be used to this style.

BTW as a reminder, do remember to tell each other of what you plan to do (In or out of character) so no one will be too surprised when things happen.

Also if you disagree with the proposed course of action, come up with an alternative instead of just disagreeing.

Didn't miss too much.  Finished the fight, captured our mark, Reinhold distracted army while the rest escaped, picked him up later.  Now at our basecamp (abandoned village), started interrogating warlord, interrupted by giant skeleton attack.  Difficult, prepared to flee, took it down just before leaving.  Now ready to investigate.

Great example of team coordination: send in the distracted techie & tough muscle to interrogate, predictably fails.  Regroup, others suddenly remember they have the prefect supernatural abilities to make interrogating a snap, plan questions in advance, actually make progress.  Success!...eventually.

Summary for the missing player:

- Drove Gilgamesh back to town, he's going off doing his own thing, gods will keep an eye on him for us.
- Tried to interrogate Makarov, failed miserably, almost successfully hypnotized us into letting him go.  Has been shipped back to Russia to Putin.  Putin won't give Reinhold back his sword.
- We're going to slay Reinhold's dragon.  It's in southern Germany.  Making plans, which include so far: booby-trapping lair & detonating when it returns; firing anti-tank gunk/entangling missiles to ground it, then beat it; Nadezhda airlifts us one at a time, drops us on top of dragon, ride like cowboy; seem competent, but not too competent, to lure it down to the ground, and then focus fire it.  Any other suggestions would be great.  By the way, it breathes not fire, but pure entropy.

We're now demi-gods, and allowed to go up to legend 7.  You didn't miss out on any experience this session.

congratulations on reaching the next difficulty level of Scion
now you will begin to see more dangerous opponents that can kill you outright with one hit

welcome to demigod

I recommend that people spend some time thinking about how to survive combat and if necessary upgrade your defenses
this is the point where the raw numbers can just overwhelm you

Keep that in mind when you pick your supernatural powers

I would recommend that the players try to keep their characters' legend levels the same.  It really can be a case of "the higher legend npc/pc simply wins" and that makes it hard for the GM if the characters are at different levels as either pc A simply wins or pc B simply loses.  Or both, I suppose.

Seeing as Shards of the Exalted Dream has finally released I will be going to change the game system
to use the Exalted Rule set since it's much more functional

This is not going to happen instantly as i have to actually get my hands on the book
but be aware that this is what i am planning

Now i understand that some people dislike Exalted but we will only be using
the mechanics of Exalted not the setting itself

Changing over will make the game run much more smoothly and avoid the issues that comes up
in higher level Scion games

Again this is going to be a work in progress, so we will still be using Scion rules for the time being

Okay, so I'm going to take the knack "Fight with your head", because fluff-wise it seems to be perfect for my character.  But its mechanics are a little undefined, so maybe the GM could look it over and decide how it works exactly before we being play tonight.

It's on page 34 of Ragnarok, but if you don't have that sourcebook, there's a copy of the knack's full description in the third post of this thread (http://forums.white-wolf.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=55806) (also people discussing it).

As the last combat against the dragon showed, Scion is not working out well
so next session i will be converting the game to Exalted

Apologies to people who have just updated their characters to demigod stats
but everyone will have to rebuild their characters according to Exalted rules

Epic Stats will be replaced by Lunar Excellencies
Abilities (Ie, Skills) will be changed to Exalted abilities
Legend will be replaced by Essence
Legend points will now be Essence Pools

As of right now there will be no changes to Boons but Epic Stats Knacks will no longer exist
Knacks will be effectively replaced by Exalted Charms

I will Provide more details on friday and explain the exalted rules then

I regret to say that Victor Ullson will be striking out on his own as I leave this Game of Ragnarok.

I had no problems with how Scion was balanced, and actually liked the change in Epic and Legend points.
However, looking at Exalted, I felt the power was reduced quite a bit, and charms and advancement seemed rather complicated to me.
I apologize if this results in the end of the game and victory of the Titans.

well, it's unfortunate but it seems like friday's game is going to get cancelled and it's continuation is looking iffy.

Eric is unable to make it this week and Iris is having an exam so we are down to 2 players so friday's game is cancelled unless i get more players.

Also seeing as Iris is going to be leaving for about a month after exams we will be down to 3 players.

Ok, given the feedback and suggestions that have come up, we are going to stay with Scion for now.

Friday game is on, we are going to be playing Scion.

In the event that we have a TPK we will switch to Exalted
Characters will be made using the Solar character creation rules as printed with modifications from the Errata with 0XP since we will be starting fresh.
The Setting will still be Scion, but everything else will be Exalted rules.
That means no Boons and other powers from Scion.
I will build sample Characters using some archtypes and you guys can look over them to get a better idea of how an exalted character is going to be like.

If people still do not wish to play then we will do something else for Fridays.

And so we have a TPK for Scion.
Since people don't want to convert to Exalted, Friday's game is now over.

Current plan is to have Jaime run one shots until further notice.

If you want to run a game, Friday is now free.

I'm done.

Aw.  It's always a shame when you can't see a story through to its conclusion.

If no one else wants to run anything, I guess I could try running a Pathfinder campaign.  I've never GM'd before, so don't expect anything fancy or deep.  We can discuss this all on Friday, assuming there are still players showing up.

I would rather stick to the core rulebook & bestiary 1 only, as it is less for me to learn and keep track of.

But I also want people to have fun, so if you give me a cool backstory/reason, I'll probably allow other things on a case-by-case basis.  I reserve the right to say something isn't fitting/working/overpowered & to change/remove it (but I find such changes jarring, so used sparringly & as last resort).

I'm a beginner, probably everyone else playing would be, so don't optimize too much.  But whatever.

Eric, I must interrupt, as I have an Adventure!

A Soviet space laboratory has somehow dropped out of orbit and crashed into the Sea of Japan. Unknown to the rest of the world, an experiment aboard the lab has gone out of control! A deadly strain of virus has mutated inside the lab. If the lab is opened, the virus will escape and decimate the world's population!  It is now a race against time to discover who has found the space lab... and to stop them from releasing a plague that will destroy civilization!

The old James Bond system from the 80's.
And yes, Friday.

Sounds cool.

Is this a single story spanning several sessions, or are you planning a long-term campaign?  (Assuming we don't fail and doom the world.)

Probably a medium length for this one, to see how this goes.
I grabbed a bunch of adventures. I can also do The Man With The Golden Gun, You Only Live Twice 1 and 2, and Dr. No is is the back of the main book.

Decimate the world's population? How did those crafty Soviets create a virus which will only kill 10% of the population? If anything it might help the world, unless the 10% lost will kill important figures like myself. *becomes super villain*

Well, but at least if the team is working together as a team (without backstabbing, interfering with each other, etc.), then this shows signs of progress.

An lo! The Soviet Spacelab was recovered!

Karl Fenric Skorpios, one of the leaders and directors of terrorist organization "TAROT" operating from a volcano off the coast of Japan, had claimed it.
Seeking only to increase tension between the United States and the Soviet Union, the capsule proved far more valuable, once the contents were revealed: A bioweapon, that had it been released, would've obliterated large swathes of the surrounding population. Killing millions, and forcing Japan, reliant on seafood, to import large shipments in order the feed a starving country.
For the good of the nation, and perhaps the world, our fearless, heroic MI6 agents valiantly fought their way through the mists of obfuscation in order to discover this secret lair. Once inside their bravery was instrumental in the destruction of the facility. Fleeing in a miniature submarine through the Sea Of Japan, Skorpios escapes to a secure lab, some miles away, to make Dr. Isa Nakahara open the capsule. With steely resolve the Agents follow in their own minisub, having previously attached explosives to the hull of Skorpios' craft.
With the skill expected of them, they manage to make short work of the minor contingent of guards present. With this taken care of, the last step is to secure the space capsule. In their attempts to do this, Skorpios finds himself on the wrong end of a sword, and Dr. Nakahara on the wrong end of a gun. At last! The world spins on, seemingly unaffected by this calamity, months and years in the making.

Seriously, thanks for running that.  I was honestly thinking right from the start of the campainpaign that we'd have to resort to playing Pandemic as a finale.  Even so, the end was to the wire.

I figured that putting that up will make it a bit easier for people to remember who's who.

Some NPCs will be more relevant then others but it looks like we will be seeing more of the Aozaki sisters, Emiya Shiro, Waver Velvet and Arcueid Brunestud.

Some of these name might sound familiar to some people, congrats if you know where I got them from.

On a separate note, a few more players would be nice so we won't have to cancel as often due to people being away.

Yes and yes.
We've just began in-game Christmas Break, so it's a reasonable break in the events to have new characters appears.
Power Level 8, and we're all about 16 years old.

Glad my sign was noticed.  Turn up in the commons room around 6 pm & look for John H. (GM).  Besides paper & pencil, all you need is a single d20 (and the rulebook would be nice, but we've got 3 amongst us to share).

Beginning PP total was 120 for us, GM might let you start with more since we're at 134 total now.
Disallowed abilities: Nemesis (pg 94), any form of time travel, sidekicks/minions/duplicates/etc. that are heroic.

Current players:
Eric: "Haze" / Mari Fujita (f) -- gossipy diva, powers focusing on bubbles & amazing singing voice, diplomancer
John: "Tiny Kaiju" / Taro Tsujimoro (m) -- aloof jock, has wings & size changing (big & small), beatstick meatshield
Plue: "Zero" / Fuma Kutaro (m) -- nerdy ninja, makes regular use of shadow-clone duplicates, divides & conquers

Just come with an idea of what exactly you want your character to be able to do, and we'll help you with the how.  This system really lets you do almost anything you can imagine.  The only thing to keep in mind is that you need to have a reason to be attending high school (so a loner on the run from the law would be difficult to fit in...  but perhaps a cover story & arrangement with the principal...).

Character sheets are as easy as googling and printing, or you can photocopy them out of the back of the book.
The book is available on the Green Ronin online store, and many other reputable merchants. As well as various other less monetized sources.

Also available should you desire, are two themed books, "Hero High" and "Mecha And Manga"

Taro Tsujimoto
Born in NYC on March 1996 to a Japanese father and American mother, as a result he is an American citizen by birth and Japanese by blood.
His mother, April Morigan, is a massive sports fan, most notably the New Jersey Devils NHL team, of which she has had season tickets since 1988.
In Japan, she runs an American style sports bar “The Stadium, Sports bar and Grill” for expats and homesick tourists. The walls and ceiling are adorned with sports memorabilia and championship banners from across all the major sports in North America and the Oylmpics. Her mutations are largely physical: A pair of insect-like wings.
His father is Taro Tsujimoto Sr. an international stock trader who travels between New York and Tokyo every six to eight weeks. His own parents, a very traditionalist family, scorned his marriage of an American wife, and even moreso, the birth of their grandson outside of Japan. As such, while they still care for him, they refuse to acknowledge their daughter-in-law, and only send brief birthday greetings to their grandson. Tsujimoto Sr has no powers, aside from heightened intellect.
When Taro’s powers began to manifest during puberty, it was noticeable almost right away: he grew 30 feet tall, and gained 10,000 pounds, crushing his room and half of the family house. For three days after this, he refused to sleep, fearing he might crush someone to death. When he finally passed out, three days later, he awoke in a mountain range of fabric: He had shrunk to the size of an eraser!
His mother, April, had wanted to send him to her old Alma Mater, Claremont Academy in upstate New York, but Tsujimoto wanted to keep his son in Japan. Speaking with Headmaster Claremont, he recommended April a suitable academy in Japan, where both parents’ desires would be sated.

tl;dr
I may update this later when I come up with some more stuff.

I think the general idea that has been glossed over is that the school uniforms are accommodating in terms of physical powers.
Speedsters won't shred theirs with friction, Duplicators have fully dressed clones, etc.
After all, this is a school for metahumans.

Oh, hey, sorry for forgetting to do this until now.

Fujita family:

Mari, born October 14, 1996
Brother: Kaname, born June 8, 2007
Mom: Chise (Maiden name: Kochi), born March 3, 1971
Dad: Yuuto, born September 30, 1970

Background:

Nothing very notable about Yuuto's or Chise's histories (ordinary families/upbringings; no super-powers).  High-school lovers that eventually married, Yuuto trained to become a decent accountant, while Chise worked as an aide at a daycare.  Not terribly wealthy, they chose a more humble lifestyle to afford living in a more isolated, private area near some woods; long commutes followed.

From birth, Mari spent a lot of time at the daycare while her mom worked, and she quickly grew to love attention & music.  She also grew to hate her home & nature, as there was nothing & nobody interesting nearby.  Making her mom guilty, she was spoiled & too often got her own way, to her father's dismay.  During her school years, she would spend as much time away from home as possible.  When Kaname was born, Mari became extremely jealous of the attention that was shifted onto him.  She frequently neglected to inform her parents of her whereabouts (often at karaoke), and received groundings from her fed-up father.

Gaining powers:

Late one clear summer night (year 1995), Mari saw a streak of light descend into the nearby woods.  She snuck out to investigate, and after an unpleasant half-hour of wandering, discovered the crashed remains of what looked like a large bathtub.  There was a strange, hypnotic humming that seemed to pull Mari towards that craft.  Peering in, she saw a silvery, translucent, amorphous blob, emitting a pathetic sound that melted your heart.  As she reached towards it, it suddently lurched forward & latched onto her arm.  Her trance broken, Mari ran about screaming, arms flailing, trying desperately to fling off the icky goop that was stuck fast & spreading over her.  One faceplant into a low-hanging branch a moment later, and it was lights out for the young girl.

Mari woke up some time later to Kaname poking her.  Groggily standing up, she found no trace of the creature on herself.  Worried about the trouble she'd get for letting her brother wander out, Mari roughly dragged him home with several unkind words, snuck back in, and went to bed.

The next day, she woke up all dizzy & disoriented.  As her parents left for work (and Kaname to daycare), she convinced them that a day's rest was all she needed.  As she eventually figured out that the second set of emotions she felt were of the alien now residing within her, Mari trudged back to the crash site, but found the craft gone.  A day's efforts of mental exercise eventually resulted in a basic form of emphatic communication between the two, but all the alien would communicate is that it needed to bond with Mari to survive.  Other than that, no apparent goals or motivations.  Mari named her new associate "Slushy."  Over time, its presence grew more subdued, and Mari forgets its existence most of the time now.

Mari initially kept all this a secret.  But, after discovering & having fun with her new supernatural abilities, she could not resist eventually showing them off.  Once the ensuing shenanigans died down, Mari reluctantly explained her situation to her parents.  A representative of the metahuman high school, aware of Mari's abilities, suggested relocating her there.  All agreed it was best for her well-being & safety (Mari was happy leave home).

Personalities & Relationships:

Mari loves attention, and tries to act super-refined & cultured.  Somewhat overconfident, but not reckless, she would rather use diplomacy instead of resorting to combat.  Not fond of academics, but studies enough so as not to appear as an uncultured hick.  Not much for physical activities either, she loves singing & entertaining, and practises all the time with the hopes of one day becoming a high-class performer.  She views her powers as awesome assets that she wishes to flaunt (usually forgetting Slushy's existence).

Her mom, Chise, is overly protective & tries to make her children as happy as possible.  Mari often takes advantage of this to get her way.  Her father, Yuuto, is quite reserved, usually waiting until things escalate before stepping in to discipline.  Kaname is your typical energetic & curious 6-year-old boy, and Mari resents him on principle for being an icky younger brother (and is secretly jealous of the extra attention he gets).  Overall, Mari considers her family an obstacle/force to avoid & occasionally mooch off of, and doesn't realise how much she subconsciously loves them.

Abilities:

For the most part, Mari, somewhat tall & slim, is an ordinary girl, albeit with a great singing voice & powerful personality.  Slushy bonding with her enhances her awareness and stamina, and having a second sentience sharing her head greatly bolsters her mental resistances (especially to mind control).

Slushy's natural emphatic manipulating abilities combine with Mari's charisma to devastating effect.  Her heavenly voice can stop fights & inspire allies to feats far beyond their normal abilities.  The songs Mari sings can change emotions, leave subjects distracted in a daze, or, with extra effort, lull them to sleep (it can be a little indiscriminate, though).

Slushy's natural fluid form combining with Mari's body resulted in the unusual effect of being able to create surprisingly-tough, controllable bubbles.  These can be used for a variety of purposes:
- encasing things in large bubbles to trap/protect & carry around
- creating a deluge of small bubbles to distort & interfere with vision
- fly about on cushion of tiny bubbles (bring some friends!)
- assist with underwater movement & breathing (bring some friends ...but not as many!)
- ?????

I still plan to show up tomorrow night for board games.  But since I'm working late, I won't show until 7/7:30.

By the way, I'd still like to continue this campaign in the new year, provided everyone else is still there.
